The Child Dental Benefits Schedule provides bulk billing services for basic dental treatment over a two-year period for eligible 2–17 year olds in Melbourne
We provide bulk billing for the chidden under the child dental benefit schedule. Prior your appointment, we will ask for your Medicare Card number and Reference number (IRN). Please ensure you have it handy so we can assist determine your eligibility. Provided you are eligible, there are no wait times just our first available booking. However, your first appointment is usually limited to emergency care or a routine checkup.

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) will commence on 1 January 2014 and will provide access to benefits for basic dental services to around 3.4 million children aged 2-17 years. The total benefit entitlement will be capped at $1,000 per child over a two calendar year period. The CDBS is means tested, which requires receipt of Family Tax Benefit Part A (FTB-A) or a relevant Australian Government payment. Benefits will not be available for orthodontic or cosmetic dental work and will not be paid for any services provided in a hospital.

Medicare will send you a letter online or by post. You can also check if your child is eligible by:
- using your Medicare online account through myGov
- calling the Medicare general enquiries line
You can get the benefits for your child if:
- you’re their parent or guardian, or
- you’re an approved care organisation
Children who get payments in their own name can also get the benefits if theyʼre:
- 2 to 17 years old for at least 1 day of the calendar year
- eligible for Medicare
If youʼre a teenager and have a partner, you may also be eligible to get the benefits. Your partner must get a payment from us.
